1 Information Collection and Usage

The White Noise application does not collect, harvest, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII).

We believe audio tools and sleep companions should respect your peace of mind. As a result:

• No Account / Registration: You do not need to create an account, log in, or provide any credentials to use any feature in the application.
• No Analytics or Tracking SDKs: We do not include third-party tracking libraries, advertising SDKs (such as AdMob), or behavioural analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics).
• No Audio Recording or Eavesdropping: The application does not request or use the device microphone (`RECORD_AUDIO`). It only outputs synthesized sounds through your device speakers or headphones.

2 Device Permissions & Hardware Usage

To ensure smooth playback and sleep timer functionality, the app requires minimal Android operating system permissions:

• Foreground Audio Service (`FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK`): Used exclusively to maintain seamless background audio playback when your screen is turned off or while using other applications.
• Wake Lock (`WAKE_LOCK`): Allows the gentle sleep timer fade-out and native synthesizer loop to run consistently until your selected timer duration expires.
• Post Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`): On Android 13+, allows displaying a standard media playback controller in the notification drawer so you can play, pause, or stop the sound mix easily.

None of these permissions are used to track user activity or collect background telemetry.

3 Local Data Storage & User Control

All user-generated configurations (such as saved ambient preset recipes, sound volume slider positions, and sleep timer session history logs) are stored exclusively on your device using Android's encrypted private application sandbox.

Your Data, Your Control:

• You can delete individual custom sound presets at any time using the trash icon in the Presets screen.
• You can wipe all sleep session history logs in one tap via the "Clear" button in the Insights screen.
• Uninstalling the application or clearing app storage via Android Settings (`Settings > Apps > White Noise > Storage > Clear Data`) immediately and permanently purges all stored data from your device.

4 Third-Party Services & Network Activity

The application is engineered to function entirely offline. It does not communicate with external advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing platforms. No telemetry is transmitted to remote servers.

5 Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

Our application complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families Policies. Because we do not collect any personal data or utilize advertising SDKs, White Noise is safe for users of all ages, including children and families seeking bedtime relaxation and sleep assistance.

6 Security

We value your trust in using our application. Since all processing is performed on your local device without cloud databases, there is zero risk of remote cloud database breaches or unauthorized intercept of your listening habits.

7 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect future software enhancements or changes in regulatory standards. Any updates will be posted directly to this URL with a revised effective date.
